Finishing off the 2007 season with a win in the Bulldog Bowl against Diablo Valley College, the Bulldogs are looking to repeat their success in the upcoming season.
With sophomore quarterback David Singleton transfering out, the starting quarterback position is up for grabs. " We don't have any starters in at this time," said CSM Football Head Coach Larry Owens. "The quarterbacks are Wes Price, JT Ramos, and Matt Pelassa." It is a toss up as to who will be the starting quarterback. It is still too early in the season to tell.
On the plus side the Bulldogs do have key returning players to the team.
Anthony Arellans, 6'3'' out of Los Altos High School, Jacob Orth, 6'3' out of Central Catholic High School in Modesto, and Joe Perea, 6'3'' out of El Camino High School are returning sophomores to the Offensive Line.
Jamie Fehoko, 6'2'' out of Mt. Eden High School and David Hafoka, 6'2'' out of San Mateo High School are returning sophomores to the Defensive Line.
During their 2007 football preseason the Dogs went undefeated for their first 6 games. However when conference games approached, the Dogs fell short and ended their season with some upsetting losses.
With many of the sophomore players leaving last semester, a lot of the freshmen had to grow up quickly and take responsability on and off the field. "Some of the key players now are sophomores who now have to be leaders instead of followers as they were last year," said Owens.
The Dog's need to work hard towards their goals. "I think that if we can overcome some situtations we should have a pretty good year," said Owens.
