Oct. 27, 7:15 p.m.: a white male, non-student was arrested on campus by the SMPD for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was reported as shirtless and washing himself in the drinking fountain of Bldg. 35 according to John Wells, Supervisor of College Security.Ü The Director at the police academy reported seeing him trying to break into a car in Lot 22. When Wells pursued the suspect he jogged away. The subject was carrying no identification.Ü The suspect was given an eye test by the SMPD which determined that he was under the influence.

Oct. 31, 11:30 a.m.: a car fire was reported in Lot 3B. When campus security arrived, Athletics Director, Andreas Wolf, was already there extuinguishing the fire, Supervisor of College Security, John Wells said. "I stepped outside to catch some fresh air and saw billowing smoke. I thought to myself, why would someone be barbequeing in the parking lot? I saw smoke coming out of the hood of a car and had the custodian I was with call security and the fire department" said Wolf. The fire was so hot, it immediately engaged the car next to it also. "I got the fire extinguisher from by the pool. There was liquid coming down [from the car] probably gas from the engine. When the first extinguisher ran out I ran back to the weight room and broke the glass to get another. At this point the flames were too high," said Wolf. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. Car fires use to be blamed on arsen. It's "urban legend" that the gaskets of older vehicles cause the ignition of these unexpected car fires when gas leaks occur because of new chemicals contained in gasoline Wells said. "It's just one of those natural things...just to make sure everything is out of the way. I did the best I could to save the flames and contain the fire. The bottom line is no one was
hurt," said Wolf.

Nov. 7, about 12:30 p.m.: a student was caught shoplifting a pastry at the cafeteria in the Building 5.Ü The SMPD was called and the suspect was arrested.Ü The suspect could face up to a $10,000 fine if charged.
