The Bulldogs got a strong outing from starting pitcher Zac Bischoff and scored 11 runs against the College of Marin on Saturday, but one nagging question remained when it ended-would it count?

The uncertainty lasted until the Bulldogs were officially granted a win, improving their record to 8-7 as they begin conference play this week.

Once again, the weather conspired to prevent the team from playing nine consecutive innings, as a heavy rain caused the umpires to call the game after eighth inning. The Bulldogs led Marin 11-5 and needed three more outs to make it official.

Weather notwithstanding, the Bulldogs played an outstanding game as Bischoff struck out twelve batters and allowed only two runs before retiring after the seventh inning. The offense put seven runs on the board in the first three innings, starting in the first when Logan Freethy scored on an error.

Outfielder Brian Bianchi's single started a five run outburst in the second, and the Bulldogs added a run in the third when Adam Chickman scored on sacrifice fly by Sean Wilson. The Bulldogs added a pair of runs in both the sixth and eighth innings for eleven total, before Mother Nature made its presence felt.

Third baseman Sean Wilson went two for three for the game, with three RBI's and a stolen base, while second baseman Logan Freethy was three for four and scored three runs. The Bulldogs totaled 15 hits in all.

Marin scored two unearned runs in the second: a home steal by Matt Kausch, and a throwing error that scored first baseman Sean Loughlin. It was the only error the Bulldogs made in the game. Marin rallied for three more runs in the eighth, aided by the wind as Chris Dittman's fly ball was carried over the fence. Beau Witsoe, pitching in relief of Bischoff, got out of the inning with a 9-5 lead and the Bulldogs added two more runs for the final tally.

The coaches and players remained a bit longer and the weather eventually cleared, but with the officials gone there was nothing to do but call it a game.

CSM enters conference play trailing behind Cañada (11-2) and Skyline (11-3) in the standings.
